Sometimes a girl only has 20 minutes to go from daytime casual to nighttime glam, or something like that. To make sure this transition was doable, I timed it myself. Below are the details for these two outfits and the little changes I made to be date night ready!

〈DAY〉

My daytime outfit features two of my favorite boutiques- South(Alabama, 3 locations) and avenu (Coronado, California). When I saw this sweater I had to have it. It isn’t thick like a winter sweater, instead it is light and extremely soft. If you look at the Vans you can see that I took the shoe laces off. I do this with most of my Van sneakers so I can take them on and off with ease. Now, for the hair. When I am running around town my hair is normally up and out of my way, because if I wore it down I would constantly be touching it.

What Changed from Day-to-Night?

Shoes: Sneakers to Pumps, shoes are a huge influence on an outfit. Dress up your day attire with a pair of staple pumps. My “NIGHT” shoes are from a year ago (See Older Post) and there is a reason Ted Baker keeps these bad boys around. They are comfortable!

Shorts: Both are hi-waisted shorts, but my frayed, denim shorts would not be so hot with pointy pumps. When I think of “dressy,evening” shorts they have a few rules to meet: 1. Length Matters, fabric should reach past your fingertips, 2. Finished Hems, no strings here, and 3. Material Type, denim may not be the way to go. (P.S. The Bebe Shorts are ON SALE NOW). 

Hair: How you style your hair can also be an outfit game changer. Daytime hair, for me, usually means that I’m rocking a ponytail or some sort of up-d0/braid. Taking 5-10 minutes to spruce up your hair, for the night’s festivities, is another game changer. Nighttime hair, if you get creases (from ponytails) style your hair half-up-half-down. If you are able to go from ponytail to gorgeous curls…Well most people are probably extremely jealous (me included), but let that hair be rid of it’s rubber band! OR you are the rest of us that needs to find a teasing comb, turn on the styling wand and grab the strongest hairspray and go for the “messy look”-what I have to do. 

Vest-to-Jewelry: Denim on denim isn’t a fashion “NO” anymore. If I need to dress an outfit down or if I need a little extra something, I grab my denim vest. Then to go the opposite way, adding a necklace can spruce things up! When you have a shirt that has a lot going on, color, fabric, lace, etc. it’s good to stay simple. Dainty necklaces have been making a huge comeback and I am a big fan…Last year’s statement necklaces left me with a crick in my neck and a migraine.

Next time you have 20 minutes to be nice, dinner ready, be proactive and plan ahead. Create an outfit that is versatile and all-day comfortable….Ultimately, stress-free or almost stress-free.
