I am absolutely in love with this dress, not just for it’s flattering waistline or detailed embroidery, but for it’s versatility. I’ll elaborate on this, but first raise your hand if you have a shower, rehearsal dinner, or a wedding to attend in the next few months? Who also doesn’t have a clue on what to wear? You’re not alone in your attire anxiety, but this dress could be your solution.
About the Dress
Preferably I would like the hem to be a little higher, but I didn’t want to compromise the scalloped hem. This dress runs small and the straps are a little confusing (I had to get someone to help me figure it out) but the bodice is sturdy and the material is well-made. The pictures on the stores’ sites do not do the dress justice. In person it catches your eye and realize there is no avoiding the dressing room, today. Personally if I owned this dress at the time of my bridal showers, I would have worn it over any of the dresses I actually wore.
At weddings it’s always nice to bring a shawl, especially if you are attending a ceremony in a church or outside. This hue of yellow, specifically with this dress, is simultaneously simple, dainty and stunning. Just classic. The dress already has enough detail, don’t take away it’s beauty with an overwhelming pattern (shawl/shoe), necklace or earrings. The material is a very, soft cashmere and a great length- even for my petite torso. The downside is that the fabric will pull/catch easily. Below are a few more options⇓
- Merona Yellow Oblong Scarf
- JCrew Refined Silk-Cashmere Wrap (Color-Snow)
- Collection XIIX Beaded Trim Wrap (Color-Ivory)
Shoes. Keep it simple in color- nude or gold- and in heel type. A dainty shoe is the best description, so envision a thin ankle strap and skinny heel. I love the look of the heels above, but oh my gosh are they the most uncomfortable contraptions I own. Fortunately I made a list of designers that, more often than not, make a very comfortable shoe.
- Stuart Weitzman Nudistrong Sandal
- *Saint Laurent Classic Jane Sandal (Color-Powder)
- Vince Camuto Court Sandal
- Sam Edelman Patti Sandal
- Seychelles ‘Scenic’ Sandal (Blast from the Past Style)
*I have a pair of the Saint Laurent Sandal’s, in silver, and they are extremely comfortable and timeless.
The Accessories & Hair
Stud earrings, diamond, pearl or gold will work great with this outfit. The bodice of the dress has a lot of detail, adding a necklace is not a wise choice; therefore, jewelry for this outfit should be limited to rings, earrings and maybe a thin bracelet. Simple is more. As far as purses, here are a few options: Rebecca Minkoff Envelope Clutch, Tory Burch Britten Clutch or Louis Vuitton Ana/Chain Louise MM.
P.S. I’m OBSESSED with the Chain Louise!
Style your hair up (Braided, Ponytail, Bun, etc.) with this dress. The neckline is beautiful and the back is even more stunning and exposed. If you prefer your hair down it would be okay, but you miss out on the dramatic effect of the back.
I’ve included a few more pictures of the outfit. Also COMING SOON, on the blog, I will tell you all about our recent adventure to⤷ Disney World⤶! All of the whats, whens, wheres and what to wear will be answered! Stay updated by following me on Instagram @macaronsandmasonjars.
